DESCRIPTION

Our Government client is seeking One (1) Project Manager for a 12-month contract + extension located in Kingston with travel to Toronto.

Requirements: What you'll need

Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications

  • 5 + years in project management
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and developing requirements in order to create and maintain a detailed project schedule and/or integrated plan. 
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing, selecting and on-boarding team members in various disciplines, clarify roles and responsibilities and set task/deliverable/performance expectations for resources 
  • Demonstrated experience developing complex project budgets. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing large project budgets and ensuring a high level of fiscal control and accountability including estimates, forecasts and reconciliation/ confirmation of actuals. 
  • Demonstrated experience identifying potential risk events and issues before they occur while providing the proper mitigating strategies. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing projects, programs, and/or portfolio reporting to multi-stakeholders at senior executive levels. 
  • Demonstrated experience with change management, capitalizing on forces in support of change during all stages of projects - concept, definition, planning, implementation and close-out. 
  • Leads organizational development, strategy development, business planning, and Ministry funding requests. 
  • Articulates and prioritizes issues and risks at senior executive levels and recommends mitigation strategies for decision makers. 
  • Establishes and participates in steering committee and stakeholder forums. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills Demonstrated experience resolving resource and inter-personal conflicts, negotiates changes to resourcing, ensures knowledge is shared among team members such project objectives and deliverables are met. 
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Project Management’s Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge 
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ITIL 
  • Follows and promotes OPS I&IT standards and best practices for project management to facilitate control of system quality, adherence to standard methodology and the control of the use of I&IT resources 

Deliverables: What you'll do

  • Stakeholder engagement and coordination with multiple teams within the organization. 
  • Project reporting at various audience levels; including project Sponsors, Executive Sponsors, and Agency or Partner levels. 
  • Develop a project charter and obtain signoff from stakeholders. Create and manage the integrated project plan and all components, documents and reports. 
  • Manage schedules and related project communications. 
  • Manage and coordinate project tasks, deliverables and resources to meet project objectives. Prioritizes tasks effectively in order to respond to numerous and diverse challenges as they occur. 
  • Ensure a high level of fiscal control and accountability for project budget. Forecast changes to the budget and communicate planned vs. actual budget as the project progresses. 
  • Understand and proactively identify risks and issues involved and manage them appropriately as they are triggered. 
  • Ensure full disclosure based on risk/benefit analysis. Make recommendations / decisions based on evaluation of risk and understanding of the business implications. 
  • Apply appropriate strategies and actions to overcome resistance to change and capitalizes on forces in support of change during all stages of the project - concept, definition, planning, implementation and close-out. 
  • Promote OPS I&IT standards and best practices for project management to facilitate control of system quality, adherence to standard methodology and the control of the use of I&IT resources. 
  • Assist the program area with other project deliverables as defined, or as priorities within the portfolio adjusts in-year.
